How to wrap up 2024 and start 2025 strong:
Hello friend,
It’s the last Super Sunday of the year and I wanted to wish you and yours a wonderful new year ahead! ♥️
When started writing online in 2022 I never thought I’d get so much back.
In learnings, connections, and mental clarity.
I appreciate you for sticking along and sharing this journey with me.
Annual Wrap-up & Start-up
This time of the year is a chance for new beginnings fueled by big dreams and new commitments (or re-commitments).
I believe simple reflections are the most powerful, because they filter everything and leave only what matters.
For this, my suggestion is for you to reflect on 3 points; 2 to wrap-up 2024 and 1 to design a strong start-up for 2025:
What worked in 2024?
List as many things as you like. If you’ve been following along for sometime you know I like to keep it within 3 domains: S (state of mind and body), P (purposeful work with a dash of play and passion), and R (relationships that nourish and support you).
It’s the SPR-Method that I’ve been following for 3 years and has created the highest leverage in keeping my balanced and meaningful. What needed work in 2024?
List only one thing. While it is tempting (and natural) for us to have more in this list than in the previous one, the intent is to select just ONE thing to improve. This is the one thing that can give you the highest leverage and impacts all your other habits (for example, daily exercise or meditation) Master it and then you’ll set the foundation for other things to add to.What is next for 2025?
Use the one thing you’ve highlighted that needs work and put multiple plans on how to make this a no-miss for 2025.
Relook at the list you’ve created under what worked and put plans on how to make this continue for 2025.
Why this works?
The power of this reflection is in its simplicity and holistic approach.
You’re covering the 3 main domains of life through the SPR-Method and reflecting on both the past and future.
It is also based on multiple positive psychology interventions that are based on theories of creating hope by Dr. Shane Lopez, building resilience and equanimity Dr. Phil Stutz, practicing the power of gratitude by Dr. Martin Seligman, setting implementation intentions by Gabriele Oettingen, practicing self-compassion by Dr. Kristen Neff, and the famous broaden-and-build by Dr. Barbara Fredrickson.
It’s powerful, and it works.
Once again, I wish you a Happy New Year and a wonderful celebration with your loved ones.
Have a Super Sunday!
With much joy,
Hashim
