Mindfulness is the practice of bringing one's attention to the present moment and maintaining an open and non-judgmental awareness of one's thoughts, feelings, and surroundings. It is often used as a form of stress reduction and has been found to have a number of health benefits, including reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression and improving overall well-being. Practicing mindfulness involves paying attention to one's thoughts and feelings in a non-reactive way, allowing them to come and go without getting caught up in them. It also involves paying attention to the present moment, including one's physical sensations, surroundings, and any activities that one is engaged in.
We can become friends with our experience and with ourselves by practicing mindfulness. The best way to capture special moments is to pay attention. This is the process of developing awareness. Being mindful is being alert. As I developed my mindfulness practice, I observed numerous changes in my life, including increased productivity at school, improvements to my mental health and way of thinking, and a motivation on my side to solve the difficulties I encounter.
I used to be always on the go, distracted with what’s next and moving fast- which I considered a strength. Learning about mindfulness was a life changing milestone in my life as I wonder now how I made it and what I missed out throughout the process. I think that Mindfulness helps us change our relationship with our mind, that is functioning based on survival instincts by pushing us to think of the worst case scenarios, finding solutions, finding answers to the uncertainties… which is exhausting.
Have only seen this beautiful response - I love all the wisdom in your reflection. Indeed, through the space we create by being mindful, we are able to see more clearly what habitual acts are serving us vs harming us.

That’s beautiful Zaid, I am glad you’re experiencing the benefits of paying attention, on purpose, moment-to-moment, nonjudgmentally 😊
I am looking forward to learn more about meditation techniques in the future posts! Would you also write about self-compassion? Thank you :)
