Thanks for the reminder to get all these fundamentals on track! I realized there is always room for improvement, no matter how much I think I have them dialed in, there's always that extra step to take to climb further up that never ending hill - I would also add "getting enough sunlight in your eyes and being outside" as another key fundamental to seek optimal function for our mind and body - wishing you all the best in this new year and keep sharing your priceless wisdom with us!

Love this! Thank you for recommendation on getting outside and getting sunlight, I cannot agree more. We tend to “underplay” the importance of connecting with nature as our technology advances - we have to be intentional about respecting and aligning with the natural laws.

This article was straight to the point and simple and I loved every bit of it. I related to the part mentioned about previously hating passion since it is a common misconception that it is a single thing that you must focus on. Thank you for bringing to my attention that passion can be multiple things as I used to find the whole concept of "find your passion and fixate on that one thing for the rest of your life" very mundane and boring. I also have found myself lacking the fundamentals necessary to finding my passion such as sleep, expressing gratitude, and healthy eating. Another point I found important that you mentioned was getting out of your comfort zone. Trying new things and breaking unhealthy routines and habits can be scary, especially if that's what a person has known pretty much all their life. However, it is necessary to our evolution as a species and as humans to be able to continuously grow and adapt to the changing life around us. Thank you for this insightful article!

I really enjoyed reading this article especially the part where they discussed how it's very important for us to dream big, understand who we are as people, and leave our comfort zones to find our passions. We need to understand that despite it making us uncomfortable to look for or try new things, these things are essential in our lives and they add high value to them. As for the fundamentals, I believe that I personally need to improve my sleeping habits since that would really boost my performance and overall have a positive impact on my life.

That’s a wise place to start Sara, your sleep is one of the most important levers you can use to advance your life.

I am honestly guilty of starting healthy habits like meditation or daily exercise but then completely abandoning them about a month in; then wondering why I feel so low not only physically but mentally. Thank you for bringing my attention to these topics once again, I hope I find myself committing to them for longer than 30 days maximum!

What you described is called “being human” 😊 There are no perfect beings, you don’t have a flaw, it is your design that has a flaw.

Keep the habit tiny and small (but daily) and see the magic happen. Can it be 3 minutes of breath meditation (12 breaths)? Can it be 1 min? Can it be 1 breath? Anything you can commit that you will do daily for the rest of your life, go for that and expand as you grow with it. 💪

This post reminded me of the fundamentals I used to engage in on a daily basis and I let go off for a while like meditation. Thank you for the reminder to get back on track. I also love the idea on values and how they are influenced by others. It is very important to be aware of our values and remind ourselves of what matters to us despite all the noise around us.

I loved the topic of todays article. Anything related to achieving goals and being the best version of ourselves always attracts me and grabs my attention. First of all, I loved the part that spoke about going out of our comfort zone. Nowadays, we tend to be really scared to be out there and to step out of our comfort zone which is why I really loved reading about it. Another thing I loved the part that spoke about us being our own person and having our own values. It became so normal to change our values and opinions because that’s the only way to fit in, but I think the way you mentioned it indirectly told us not to compare ourselves and our values because we’re each our own person at the end of the day. Lastly, I loved how you mentioned the fundamentals and how they rank in our lives because they made me think about what I need to work on in the future to improve as a person!

I recognize the importance of these fundamentals, and the purpose they serve. I believe sleep is the one I lack in the most, mostly due to my procrastination of work I should do. And that is exactly how I will increase the crucial fundamental I receive; to lessen my procrastination habits.

Great wisdom in your plan Salma, all the best! I covered a simple hack on procrastination in one of the earlier posts, maybe that would be of help. 😊

Short and sweet. Could we have a section in the future on “Celebration”? Very interesting point on the 90% production of serotonin in the gut. For some reason I assume that there’s lots of unhealthy foods like sugars that spike your serotonin but I guess it also goes down sharply, as opposed to having a healthy diet which makes it stable.

At a certain point of life I realized that SO MUCH of what we do in life, other people do as well. I’m referring to small things that we think only we do it, and then when we see someone else doing it and then even more people do it, we feel this sense of connection. Which is because we are so similar. But at the same time we all are and see very different things. Two people, one in the driver seat and another in the passenger seat see the road differently, colors look different, attention to detail is different, connections, associations etc, which affects thoughts unconsciously.

To be continued...

Yes we shall, celebrating (and gratitude) is the least used virtue by everyone - mainly due to the perception that “it is too small” or “I don’t have time for it”. We shall cover this in more details in a future post.

I also love the reflection you shared, indeed we are all unique yet very much connected. That is, we can all be distinct yet not separated.
