But when the challenges cause overwhelm and self-doubt, it is time to reconsider priorities.
Don't let the tyranny of an insecure manager or a company that puts profit before people damage your self-worth.
Here’s what I would do (knowing what I now know about positive workplace and well-being):
Recharge:
While stress is good for growth, it is actually during the rest periods where that growth happens. Ensure a balanced blend of work and recovery.Don’t carry the load alone:
Good companies know that the employee is their best asset. Ask to be trained adequately to do the job you're being challenged with.Align your values (and strengths):
Strengths are unique to each person, they are innate and effortless. Understand (and use) your strengths then collaborate with others to cover the weaknesses.
Ultimately, we bloom where our skills meet the challenge's intensity, but we flourish when we take care of ourselves alongside a supporting team.
