How Can Leaders Increase Workplace Performance By 14%... And Workplace Happiness By Another 10%?
Hello friend! 👋
There is something quite misunderstood (and undervalued) in workplace priorities. Yet, science shows that it has a powerful impact on the company and its employees.
Hope is often misunderstood for being a soft attitude that’s “nice to have”. However, in today’s demanding and ever so challenging work environment, hope may well be a necessity.
Being hopeful has been scientifically proven to:
✅ Build resilience.
✅ Foster optimism.
✅ Boost well-being.
But hope isn't just wishing upon a star; It is a systemic process of confidence in the future.
AND there is a scientifically-validated method for creating it:
Have a clear and specific goal
Develop different pathways to it
Strengthen your agency to take action
Seems simple, but we often overlook one of these steps.
Shane Lopez, one of the founders of the theory of hope in positive psychology, tells us we can MAKE hope happen.
Try it out now:
Look at your current professional and personal aspirations:
Can you make this goal clear, crisp, and specific (get a masters degree in XX, reach XX people, write a book, land the next promotion etc…).
Now, check in with your self-confidence; Are you willing to put the effort needed to pursue this goal? Does this goal matter enough to you that you will prioritize and hyper-focus on it?
Finally can you brainstorm different pathways to get to this goal? Be creative, no idea is too stupid or impossible. Jot down as many as you can then focus on the few you see feasible. This way if one fails, you can quickly change course and keep the momentum through the other pathway.
Harness the power of hope in your professional and personal life by following this framework and watch the transformation unfold.
If you found this helpful, consider sharing it with someone who may benefit from it.
Have a Super Sunday! ⚡️
