4 choices and a system to create career clarity:
Hello friend! 👋
If you’ve joined us from LinkedIn, a warm welcome from the Super Sunday community — it’s good to have you! 🙌
Corporates get a bad rep.
But I think that’s a glass-half-empty story.
I’m approaching 1.5 decades of corporate leadership, and I continue to see two types of leaders: those who thrive and those who get in their own way. The difference is mindset, approach, and the ability to align work with values.
Let’s dive straight in!
1. Build awareness
(Why is this important?)
Your workplace is a stage where you can bring your best.
Positive psychology suggests that redefining challenges as opportunities increases motivation, engagement, and resilience. Work can feel overwhelming, but every challenge offers a chance to grow.
For example:
• A tight deadline is an opportunity to sharpen productivity.
• A stagnant market is a chance to innovate.
• A difficult colleague is a lesson in leadership and negotiation.
💡 Take a moment to reflect:
What work challenges are you facing right now? Can you shift your mindset to see an opportunity for growth?
2. Make these choices:
(How to bring it to life?)
1. Break down purpose into action:
Purpose isn’t a mystical destination — it’s lived moment-to-moment. Align your daily actions with your core values to bring purpose to your work.2. Know your strengths and use them:
Identify your top strengths and find ways to use them in your work. Purpose grows when strengths meet action.3. Reframe workplace challenges as growth opportunities:
Every problem is a lesson in disguise. Approach setbacks with curiosity rather than frustration.4. Own your career, don’t wait to be “used to full potential”:
Don’t wait for a company to maximize your abilities — bring your best to the table or take your best elsewhere.
3. Build them in a system:
(Make it consistent using the science of habit and willpower)
Reflecting on your values is the best way to create career clarity:
Annual reflection on your long-term 20-year work vision (what you’re doing and with whom?)
Quarterly reflection on what in your current work nourishes you and what depletes you.
Daily reflection on which values you want to bring to work
Remember, one month put into work that aligns with your values is far more valuable than a year of work that depletes your energy, creativity, and motivation.
